I know service when I experience it as I run a very high end luxury company where service is religion.I called MB Automotive after receiving an ad for MINI mechanical services and decided to try it when the front tire of my car started to make a squeaky noise. When I called Patrick and left a message on what seemed a cell phone I was a little puzzled and concerned that I would not get a proper service. However, a gentleman called Patrick called back and told me to meet him or his partner at 9AM there and reassured me that they would drop me back at the metro if I needed to leave the car there. My skepticism however was back when I arrived at MB and saw the front door of looked like more of a warehouse than a dealership specialized in German cars. However I had driven all the way from Chevy Chase and decided to enter the shop. Patrick's partner (Anaan?) quickly came out of the shop to welcome me and took the car in. To cut it short, Anaan spent close to an hour assessing what was wrong, found the source of problem, gave it a temporary fix (moved the front tires to the back), replaced some of the power steering liquid, added cleaning liquid for the wipers, showed me a small leak from a gasket, and told me to call for an appointment to give it a more permanent solution if the noise stopped. When I asked how much I owed him he told me NOTHING. These two gents are honest capable service oriented entrepreneurs who spent years being trained and working at Euromortorcars. They are friendly, accommodating, and if you are like me, an ever skeptical not trusting incompetent car repair shop client, please give these guys a try. They deserve it. Don't be brushed off by the sub-par location, the voice mail on the cell or the outside appearance of the shop (BTW the shop is very clean inside). My wife owns a big Mercedes and we will also take her car there for anything not associated with the car warranty. I will also tell all about it. Keep up the great work! Excellent attention, individualized service. Fair and clear pricing, excellent follow up and standing behind repairs done. I am moving out of state and I would have love to take them with me. It is very hard to find a repair shop that you can trust. MB was one of them.

Well let me first say that my car a 2005 C class Mercedes had not been serviced for quite some time, so I knew when I got it serviced it would be costly. The guys I came into contact with at MB understood my position and gave me a detailed list of the work that needed to be done to the car and the price. I was given the chance to give priority to the most pressing work that had to be done. All in all I was impresed with the customer service and overall work that was done on my car. Another issue that really got to me in a good way is that they cleaned my engine after they completed their work. In all the money I have spent at the dealer over the years, I have never had my engine cleaned and that did impress me. My car is still under warranty for another 20,000 miles, but rest assured that for all non warranty work and work that comes up after the warranty has expired I will be taking it to MB. To those that might read this posting, I would surely recommend that you give MB a try, I do think you will be satisfied with the work; and they do come in a little cheaper than the dealer. A very satisfied new customer, and I will be back to have my car serviced at MB.

I had a tricky electrical problem that the dealer was unable to fix. Patrick not only fixed the problem at what I considered to be a reasonable price, but also took the time to explain the issue to me in a manner that I could understand. I'm withholding 1/2 star because of the length of time they had the car but, again, it was a novel problem.

I am very happy with the service I receive at MB Auto Service. I recommended them to my son, and he was happy as well

I took my Acura MDX to the dealer because the maintenance light had come on. I got a whole lot mechanical jargon about what all was wrong with my car and that if I didn't take care of it right away the problems would get worse. A friend of mine recommended these guys and told me to take my car to them before letting the dealer work on it. I'm very glad I did because it's rare to find an honest mechanic. The guy explained to me that the maintenance light simply indicates that the car need regular "Maintenance" work and I was mistaking it for the engine light. I kinda felt stupid but glad at the same time. There ought to be a law against service people that outright lie to you to get money out of you or the manufacturer if the car is under warranty as mine was.

... and dedicated to getting the right result for his customers. In order to repair damage I'd inadvertently done to my Porsche (by letting tree detritis block drainage holes), Patrick had to do extensive work in his shop, disassemble the interior of the car, cajole work from a Porsche dealer, and coordinate two other subcontractors. He did all that quite well and still kept the price reasonable under the circumstances. I can't recommend his shop highly enough.

I began taking my cars to Patrick soon after he opened. I was in a predicament, I'd just been advised by the mechanics at HBL that I needed to replace the transmission in my c280. I called Patrick to ask how much he would charge for a reconditioned transmission and he challenged the diagnosis. I was doubtful and moved on. He called me back and said he was so confident he was right that he offered me a free inspection of the transmission. He was right and as a result my imminent $3000 reconditioned transmission turned into a $150 transmission flush thanks to Patrick at HBL. I've since sold the C280 but still take E55 that replaced it as well as my wife's ML320 to HBL for all our mechanical needs. I still occasionally check against other mechanics and he's usually cheaper and most importantly I trust his work. Most recently my wife accidentally parked the E55 too close to the curb and when she pulled back the front bumper unclipped. My collision center quoted nearly $700. The guys at HBL had me back on the road in 2 hrs for $159. HBL is not convenient for me. I travel from Reston to HBL in Rockville, an ungodly journey in the morning rush but I figure its still less time than making multiple trips to someone closer but not as accomplished as HBL.
